VIA technologies announced 'VIA VN1000' which is their new digital media chipset. This is meant to take full advantage of Windows 7 with support for DirectX 10.1, and is designed for the next generation desktops having small form factor and all-in-one PCs to give you a world class HD multimedia entertainment with touch screen capabilities.
VIA VN1000 offers a smooth play back of Blue-ray titles with a ChromotionHD 2.0 video processor and with superb hardware acceleration H.264, WM9 and VC1 codecs. VIA VN1000 is the most powerful and efficient multimedia focused desktop system and is optimized to work with VIA Nano 3000 series processors.
Other features include DDR3 memory, 1080p hardware accelerated playback (H.264, WMV9, MPEG-4/2/AVC, VC1) over the latest display ports and HDMI support, support for up to 4x SATA II drives/12x UB 2.0 ports, 8-channel HD audio codec, VIA Chrome 520 integrated graphics etc. The chipset is fully compatible with VIA Nano, VIA C7-M, VIA C7 VIA Eden processors, Microsoft Windows platform and almost all popular Linux applications.
