It is almost certain now and if one of your friends tells you that he will call your phone from gmail don't stare at the chat window like an ignorant. Google has confirmed that it will allow voice calls to phones from gmail and it will be free if the calls are to U.S and Canada. While the scheme is initially available only for the users in U.S, the folks at Google are working on the possibilities in other countries as well. International calls is also possible at rates as low as $0.02, however this amount is relative and might vary from country to country. Anyway Google is up to challenge other VOIP service providers and it definitely is a good news for the users.
