After a long conjecture, leaks and spy materials, Lexus unveiled prototype of its first super car LFA in Tokyo motor show 2009. The spectacular design with combination of high output, meticulous aerodynamics and outstanding features created excitement in every one present at the show..
It uses a newly developed 4.8 liter V10 engine with maximum poewer of 560 hp at 8700 rpm and a torque of 480 Nm at 6800 rpm. The surpassing power to weight ratio is attained by the use of light weight materials like aluminum alloy, titanium alloy and magnesium alloy which gives an optimum weight distribution. This super car can achieve a speed of 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds and has a maximum speed of 325km/hr.
A high body rigidity is achieved with the use of CFRP (Carbon fiber reinforced plastic) which also help to reduce the weight (100 Kg less than that of an aluminium cabin). The dimensions of the vehicle are 4.51m length, 1.90m width and a height of 1.22m. Tyre specifications are 265/35ZR20 (95Y) front tyre and the back tyre of 305/30ZR20 (99Y).
A unique method of weight distribution (front-to-rear 48:52) is adopted in this super car which helps it lower the center of gravity and thus offer outstanding performance and stability. The engine and transmission (the higher weight components) are located within the wheel base while the electric fans, radiator etc. are placed behind the rear axle.
High-tech aerodynamic engineering design like speed-controlled rear wing, flat underbody and a diffuser gives exact vehicle response at every speeds.
Combination of equal-length exhaust manifold and dual-exhaust system with a smooth coordination of exhaust and intake sound which overlaps at various RPMs creates an exciting sound track.
The production is limited to only 500 peices and costs $375,000
