The new chat window named 'Messaging side bar' displays both online and offline contacts, and takes more space than required. For those who are not impressed with this new chat option, here is some simple methods to how to switch into old style Facebook chat.
The first method is for Chrome users, if you are a Chrome lover, then you can install a new Facebook chat extension named 'Fix the New Facebook Chat', which hides the offline contacts while maintaining the same style of the new Facebook sidebar. You can download it from here.
The second method is a link which opens the old chat box in a new window, going to this link facebook.com/presence/popout.php, Facebook fans can enjoy the old less awkward functionality in a new window, but should be signed into Facebook.
