Dell has already launched its first tablet the 5-inch Dell Streak in Europe in the starting of this year and also in US last month. Even the device is running with Android and can make and receive calls its screen size is small, just half of iPad.
Now it looks like the company is moving into the main stream development of tablet by entering into the boosting tablet market by making an announcement in the WSJ that they are going to release a 7-inch Android tablet. Michael Dell, the chief Executive of Dell also announced this in a conference of Oracle Corp at San Francisco. But he was not ready to reveal any technical details of the device.
The 7-inch Dell tablet is expected to hit the market this year itself and may be during the holiday season. The company is also planning to launch a 10-inch tablet, but not this year.
Reuters posted a snapshot of Mr.Dell Holding a tablet on stage, from the picture it resembles the Looking Glass which was already leaked. And from the leaked rumors the 7-inch Android 2.1 Looking Glass is supposed to be coming with Tegra 2 processor, optional TV tuner which makes you to watch watch ATSC or DVB-T programming on the seven-inch 800×480 display, 1.3 Megapixel camera, etc.
