DFI introduced a 'hybrid motherboard' which combines two systems in a single board. The 'Hybrid P45-ION-T2A2' allows two systems to run both in shared mode (KVM style) or fully independent. This unique motherboard from DFI is the result of some out-of-the-box thinkers who decided to change the limitations of one computer per box.

The two part of the board focuses on high power and low power platforms. The tehnical features include P45 chipset, LGA775 socket, three expansion slots, Ion-backed Atom guts with own SO--DIMM memory slots, expansion slots and passive cooling, and also sharing some rear I/O ports like audio and USB between the two.

The left side of the system is made of components for the NVIDIA ION and intel atom platform and can be used as a low power file server, torrent downloading system or can be a Blu-ray movie playback. The right hand side which features the traditional P45 + Socket 775 CPU motherboard can be used for gaming or other intensive applications.

The hybrid motherboard may release in October or early November for $399.
