iPhone 5 is announced. So folks cheer up.. the moment we've all waiting for the past one year is here, the Cupertino giant officially unwrapped their sixth generation smartphone, at the Apple press conference in San Francisco, and the Phil Schiller, the senior vice president of worldwide marketing at Apple, named the device iPhone 5, as expected.
When Apple announced iPhone 4S last year, it sure had left few of the Apple fans bit disappointed. As you know the expectations on any Apple device will be at top, and some of you may be disappointed on last years iPhone. Even though the Apple blames on the alleged leaks and rumors for the over expectations, this time they come up with iPhone 5 that exceeds our expectations. The new iPhone undergoes major changes in appearance, hardware and apps.
So the iPhone 5 is here, with its full glory, and we are confused, from where to start, each and every features is exciting. Anyway let's start with its design. The new iPhone got a redesign over its previous version, and it is built entirely with glass and aluminium. It stands a bit taller than iPhone 4S, to fit its 4-inch display. The additional space houses a fifth row of icons in the home screen. The 4-inch Retina display offers 16:9 aspect ratio, and an improved resolution, 1136 by 640 pixels for picture-perfect visuals. The device measures 7.6mm, tipping the scale at 112g, that means the new iPhone is 18% thinner, 20% lighter than iPhone 4S. The display panel delivers 44% better color saturation an supports full sRGB rendering. and with in-cell touch technology, the screen is thinner, sharper, and makes less glare under direct sunlight.
The iPhone 5 offers ultrafast wireless connectivity, and this time the phone is blessed with high-speed 4G LTE connectivity, and it supports more network from all parts of the world, including HSPA, HSPA+ and DC-HSDPA. According to Apple the 4G LTE accelerates up to 100Mbps, at the same time dual-band 802.11n wireless connectivity can reach speeds of up to 150 Mbps.
Now comes to the hard core features, the back bone of any computing device, none other than the processor used to power the device. The iPhone 5 as we expected is coming with a high end processor, the brand new A6 processor from Apple, that delivers performance and graphics up to twice as fast, while remaining smaller compared to the last years A5 processor, so you can launch the apps, web pages instantly, and also enjoy the games faster and smoother.
On camera side, it seems like that there is no ground breaking changes than the previous models. There is an improved front facing camera on the top of the display, that offers FaceTime conversations in HD, thanks to BSI sensor. On the rear side, we can see the same 8-mega pixel camera as in the last years model, the camera also offers 5-element lens and f/2.4 aperture. Even Sony and LG offers better resolution cameras compared to this iPhone 5. But Apple claims that the new camera can capture better than before, as the new processor offers better image processor, and along with the new camera apps, reduces the noises in the images, and to capture your images 40% faster, and also improves low-light performance. The added Panorama mode will let you take composite photos of up to 28 megapixels. One more thing, the device camera can capture 1080p video stunning 1080p HD video at 30 frames per second, with the iSight camera. It also offers improved video stabilisation that resist shaky footage.
The camera side is over, now comes to the audio, one of the exiting feature is that Apple is offering a new earpad, Apple EarPods, a unique piece of art that fit comfortably into almost all ear types, and provides an excellent quality of sound. The new iPhone houses not one, but three microphones to reduce the background noise, while you are in a call or just shooting a video, thus to provide a clear audio. The speaker in the device is coming with 5-magnet transducer for excellent performance, while there is another feature that aids the audio performance,"wideband audio" that delivers audio more natural during the conversations.
The new iPhone is coming with a redesigned dock connector, as is rumored earlier, and Apple calls the smaller connector as Lightning connector, as the new iPhone is thinner and lighter, and the connector also have to be smaller and better. So the previous 30 pin conncetor is replaced with the new all-digital, eight-signal design Lighting connector, that is durable and reversible.
iPhone 5 offers enhanced battery performance, delivers 8 hours of talk time or web browsing over 3G or LTE, and also 10 hours of video playback. The Maps in the device are also better, with incredibly sharp graphics and texts, even if you ou zoom in. Pan around, with a fast and smooth response.
The OS is the base of every smartphone, and in iPhone it is iOS, and to excite us the new iPhone is coming up with the latest iteration of iOS, the iOS 6, most advanced mobile OS available to date, and the iOS 6 offers a number of new features and they expanded collection of features and built-in apps to make the phone powerful, innovative and fun to use. The device is pre-loaded with a number of built in apps, and also you can access the apps from APP Store that offers more than 700,000 apps.
The Siri feature is also updated and the new Siri understands more questions and gives you more accurate answers. The phone also features AirPlay, that streams the contents of your phone wirelessly to an Apple TV, and also AirPrint that Prints straight from your iPhone.

Don't worry guys, Apple is offering the device for pre-order starting from September 14, via their online Apple Store. iPhone 5 will be hitting the streets in US, Canada, UK, Germany, France, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore by September 21, coming Friday. The price tag starting from $199 for 16GB model, and the 32GB will be available for $299, and the final one 64GB will be coming for $399. The iPhone 5 is coming in two elegant color options including white or black as always, the black model sports a anodized coating on its back side, while for the white one offers a raw aluminum back.
