The first smartphone powered with Intel's processor is announced officially and is ready to go for sale. But as we expected this is not from Lenovo or Motorola, rather it is from an Indian manufacturer named Lava, and the device dubbed as XOLO X900 will be the first smartphone powered by an Intel Atom processor.
The device is powered by Intel's Intel’s ‘Medfield’ Atom Z2460 processor, clocked at 1.6 GHz, and Intel claims that it is designed to compete with ARM based chipset and can offer high performance without sacrificing its battery life.
The phone features a 4.3-inch display with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution and offers GPS support for HSPA+ mobile broadband. There is an 8 MP camera on its rear side with LED flash and a 1.3 MP front facing camera, 1 GB of RAM, 16 GB of built-in storage space, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The device is also enriched with an array of sensors including ambient light sensor, accelerometer, proximity sensor, gyroscope, and also a magnetometer.
It offers support for 1080p HD video recording and playback and the 1,460 mAh battery offers an 8 hours of talk time, 5 hours of web browsing over 3G or 45 hours of audio playback.
When it launches, the device is coming with Android Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but the company promises an update to the latest version of Android, Android 4.0 ICS in future.
The Xolo X900 weighs 4.5 ounces and measures 4.8″ x 2.5″ x 0.4″ and will be available starting from April 23 for a price tag around Rs 22,000 ($423 or €322 approximately)
