Asus Memo Pad HD 7 now available for pre-order for $149

Asus Memo Pad HD 7 next generation upgrade of the device of the same name is up for pre-order at 4 online retail outlets. The retail price is just $0.99 less at Amazon stores than the Gamestop, Newegg and TigerDirect. The price at Amazon.com is $149.00, while the other stores have the tablet selling at $149.99.





The tablet is available in a series of color options. Asus Memo Pad HD 7 is available in blue, white and pink colors from Gamestop while the other stores have an additional green color variant. Earliest shipping date is offered by the Gamestop, which will start shipping from August 9, while the Amazon.com only starts from August 9.

The second generation Asus Memo Pad HD 7 (ME173X) is powered by a 1.2Ghz quad-core MediaTek processor along with 1 GB of RAM. There is 16 GB of in-build internal storage memory that can be expanded using MicroSD card. The 7 -inch display offers a 1280x800 resolution which is standard. It runs on Android 4.2 OS. Besides there is a 5MP rear camera and a 1.2 MP front facing camera.

Asus Memo Pad HD 7 may not be a real match for the newly launched refreshed Nexus 7 tablet, but those on tight budget can give it a shot. The new Nexus 7 runs on Android 4.3 OS, the first device to launch with this latest edition of Android. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon™ S4 Pro processor and 2GB of RAM. The 7 inch wide display offers 1920 x 1200 (323 ppi) resolution. The new Nexus 7 is available in 16 GB and 32 GB storage options, priced $229 and $269 respectively. There are two camera, a 5 MP rear camera and  1.2 MP front camera. With the introduction of the new Nexus 7 tablet, many retailers have slashed the price of the the original Nexus 7 (2012) model.
