Ubuntu Edge crowd funding interest drying up?

As the deadline date approaches the interest to fund the Ubuntu Edge smartphone project seems to die  K737HSZYGTNS. It all started well with a record breaking initial start. If the makers fails to do something to attract more funds before 21st August 2013, the project is destined to be called off.

Ubuntu had earlier made it clear that if they fail to raise the targeted $32 million there will be no edge phone. With 12 more days left for the deadline the project is not even funded half of what is required. To be more precise, it now stands at $9,375,495, which is short by over $22 million.

Ubuntu Edge has a 4.5 inch Sapphire glass display with  1,280 x 720 pixel resolution. The rear camera will be 8.0 MP and there will be a 2 MP front camera. Dual-LTE, dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4 and NFC are the connectivity options.

Ubuntu Edge phone seems very promising with features like dual OS boot, 4 GB RAM and a feature that can convert the phone into a full fledged desktop PC. When compared to iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy S4, ubuntu edge features are on a higher side.

When Samsung and iPhone offers only up to 64 GB internal storage, the Ubuntu packs a 128 GB storage in this device. Price is also less compared to iPhone 5 and Galaxy S4. Ubuntu Edge, if it manages to raise the funds, will be priced $695.

Here is the comparison of Ubuntu Edger over Apple iPhone and Galaxy S4.

Industry observers have not completely given upon this project. They still hope that Ubuntu will come up with some last minute deal to find the phone through the crowd funding.
