Samsung Galaxy S III might get Android 4.3 update instead of 4.2.2

An OS update for Samsung Galaxy S III is already brewing, and we all know it from several leaks. Samsung is expected to offer the 4.2.2 jelly bean to this device. There were several leaks in the past to support this claim.

However there is twist in the story now as the temefy website reports that the Samsung R & D is testing Galaxy S III with a Android 4.3 OS. They have an image of the device running on Android 4.3 in their website. The site claims to have procured the data from one of testing devices of an insider.

Considering the latest rumors that the Google will introduce 4.3 version of the software on July 24th, possibility is that the Samsung might scrap the 4.2.2 version update for the Android 4.3. Android 4.3 by all means will have significant changes to the software. So it will be a bonus for the Galaxy S III users if they can get their hands on the new software as soon as they are released, and have a taste of some of the features that are available in Galaxy S 4.

There were leaks last months on almost finished Android 4.2.2 firmware for Galaxy S III. Sammobile then had got their hand on experience of the leaked 4.2.2 firmware on a Galaxy S III device. Among the shared information were the lock-screen with support for multiple widgets like we see on Galaxy S4. Other features in the update included the ability to change clock size, improvisation on ripple effect, set a personal message and  an additional 'Light' unlock effect.

Other changes expected with the firmware update are mentioned below.

  • Daydream lock screen mode

  • Driving mode,

  • Actionable notifications,

  • New notification tray with additional toggles

  • Galaxy S4-like tabbed interface for the phone settings

  • New version of S-Voice

  • Samsung's voice assistant

  • Voice controls for operating the phone using voice commands

  • Full-screen Samsung apps

  • New smart switch widget

  • White background in the 3D view mode for the Gallery app

The above mentioned features are expected if the Samsung continues with the 4.2.2 firmware offering. If they offer 4.3 version OS update, there will be much more with it that includes camera features of the Samsung S4. We will soon get to know more details in the updates. So stay tuned.
