Intel's Super Skinny Design Platforms Atom Oak Trail, Canoe Lake Revealed


Intel's latest Atom platform is revealed at the Computex venue. The platforms are Intel "Oak Trail" and “Canoe Lake”, in which the first one is an ultra-sleek netbook and tablet platform, designed for fanless devices with 1080p HD video recording and extended battery life where the second one is for Pine Trail N Atom CPUs which pairs the boosted performance with DDr3 memory and shrink them into ultra thin netbooks.


The Canoe Lake platform supports both single core and dual core platforms and also yeilds to a new design technics which will be around 50-percent thinner than any available netbook today and Intel claims that this will be the thinnest in world.


The Oak Trail platform is focused on the power reduction and promises 50-percent power reduction in average power consumption with full 1080 HD video recording and playback. The new platform supports Google OS, MeeGo and Windows 7. The Oak Trail platform is 40-percent smaller than the Menlow chips and pairs with Lincroft and Whitney Point. We can expect the device with this new platforms during next year.
