At Computex 2010, Qualcomm announced their latest Snapdragon chipset MSM8260 and MSM8660, 1.2 GHz dual core processors which supports 1080p video encode and decode, and also 3D/2D engines for Open VG 1.1 acceleration and Open GLES 2.0.
The interesting thing is that the chip is already been sampled by the manufacturers. The chipset supports for 24-inch WXGA 1280 x 8000 resolution displays and got a integrated low power GPS, dedicated low power audio engine.
The third generation Snapdragon processor has its own integrated cellular connectivity, multi-mode HSPA+/CDMA2000 1xEV-DO Rev. B in the MSM8660 chipset and HSPA+ in the MSM8260.
We can expect the devices powered by these third generation Snapdragon processors in this year itself.
