Dell unveiled the rugged convertible tablet PC Latitude XT2 XFR, first multitouch tablet PC which can withstand high pressure, extreme temperature, moisture, sand, and even dust. This netbook is coming with solid body enclosure and rubber shock absorbers. There won't be any problem even if it falls on a hard surface.
From the design itself it is understood that XT2 XFR is mainly designed for those who are working in harsh enviroments like police, military, border patrol, factory fulfillment, field service organizations, first responders etc.
Latitude XT2 is coming with 12.1 touch screen 1.5inch thick, and a four cell battery and solid state drive. Battery options includes 9-cell, 6-cell, and 4-cell units. Latitude XT2 may be the most awkward netbook compared to the conventional versions of netbooks.The device features 5GB RAM with 1066 MHz speed and Intel Core 2 Duo processor. The device also has a built in modem, and the connectivity options are EVDO, GSM, GPRS, EDGE, HSPA, CDMA.
Rugged and compression sealed I/O doors, 802.11 a/g/n Wireless LAN, Bluetooth 2.1 and a webcam are also included in the specification of Latitude XT2. Data security features like Dell ControlPoint, Dell ControlVault, and also solid state and spinning disk drives with full disk encryption which is optional is available with Latitude XT2. The device features resistive touch screen capacitive multi touch gestures enabled LED display of 12.1 inch wide, and the screen is viewable in sunlight. Quad thermal management system is used to withstand extreme temperatures.
Latitude XT2 XFR is coming with FCC (Federal Communications Commission) certification. The device will be available in the U.S., Spain, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Canada and Italy online The price starts at $3,599.
