NEC, a Japanese Multinational IT and Electronics company, announced this prototype new product 'Tele Scouter,' new to the family of wearable computer concepts. Tele Scouter is a wearable optical device which interprets and make a real time translation directly to retina. The device is coming with a front mounted camera and microphone on an eye glass frame. The Microphone collect conversations and transmit them to a small computer worn on the waist and this computer converts the speech to text and will translate into users native language.

With this device the user can communicate with foreign language speakers without any interruption or any translators. NEC's Tele Scouter has sufficient processing power for the real time functionality.

You can use Tele Scouter for hours without any eye strain. The primary interaction of this device is through eye piece and is controlled through eye movements using retinal scanning. The retinal display projects the text exactly into users peripheral vision helping them to maintain eye contact with their communication partner, while reading the translation.

NEC expects the Tele Scouter to be shipping in 2010.
