
The wait is over, the time has reached for BlackBerry lovers to celebrate, as BlackBerry 10, the next generation OS from RIM officially unveiled on January 30 by Thorsten Heins, President & CEO RIM. The big event for Black Berry 10 was in New York City and RIM also set a simultaneous stage at London, New York, Johannesburg, Paris, and Dubai . Heins took the stage to announce their new OS, and two new device the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10 are based on the new OS. At the venue RIM not only started a new chapter for their smartphone story, to retain its former mobile market glory, but also took the stage to drop its name 'RIM' and the company simply becomes 'Black Berry' now on.
“it is one brand, it is one promise… From today on, we are BlackBerry everywhere in the world.” says Heins.
The new OS leaves its favor for business, and is optimized for both personal and professional functionality. According to Heins, the OS is targeted on people who are hyper-connected socially, multi-taskers who like to get things done as quickly as possible and he claimed that "We will be the leader in connecting you to the Internet of things."

Now coming to the features, the new OS will be landing with some big changes both in multi-tasking and applications. The OS is designed around the BlackBerry Hub, an inbox type notification system that displays your email, text messages, and notifications. You can also integrate calender information into the Hub. It can be accessed from any screen with a simple gesture.
The BB 10 OS comes up with a number of new features, to the list is 'BlackBerry Flow' that let the users to move from different apps and features without quitting them altogether and BlackBerry Peek with which the users can move from app to home screen with a simple swipe, So in the new OS, all the apps are running in real-time so it will run smoothly, even when you open other other one and users can jump from app to app with a simple swipe, and no need to use the “Home” button to move across applications.
Keeping two phones, one for personal use and the other one for professional use becomes an outdated story with the introduction of BB 10 devices, as the users can use the same device for work functions and personal use, and can switch between the two very easily. Thanks to the Black Berry Balance feature, that create two separate profiles -- one for personal use, and one for work that keeps the data and applications separate and let's you to switch from one profile to another.
The on-screen keyboard also got a significant improvement, while it managed to keep the traditional look with its white background and black keys. The predictive test mechanism will make your typing easier.
BlackBerry Messenger also got its upgrade, and the users can make video calls with in the App itself, and the new feature Screenshare, the user can share their entire screens with one another.
The camera app in the new OS is also pretty impressive, and with the newly introduced TimeShift feature the users can fine-tune the photos, as it captures multiple pictures before and after they actually snap the photo, and can select perfect shot by moving backward or forward in time. In multimedia editing side, the Story Maker, the new editing feature that lets the users to finely stitch the photos, videos and music into a story like video to share with your friends.
One more interesting feature, BlackBerry Remember, may be useful for professional use, as it combines memos, calendar items, tasks and other time-sensitive data into one experience to manage the data in a better way.
Martyn Mallick, BlackBerry’s Vice President of Global Alliances & Business Development announced during the event that there is already more than 70,000 apps available to download from Black Berry World. In addition to the app available in the store, BlackBerry also announced that Skype has committed to creating an application for the platform.
