Huawei Officially Unwrapped 6.1" Ascend Mate As The World's Largest Smartphone

Huawei Ascend Mate and Ascend D2, the two new devices from the Chinese makers, appeared in some crazy leak shots recently. The devices were reported to make their official debut in the CES 2013. Just as expected thethey made their cat walk in the official lime light at the CES venue. Huawei Ascend Mate seems to be an experimental device from the company with many interesting features coming out of the box, while the Ascend D2 is the company's flagship device for this season.

Huawei Ascend Mate is a device that  falls into phablet or tablet space more than a smartphone It comes with a 6.1" screen, may be the extreme size that a phone should have, to keep comfortable in our hands. Seems like the company is opening a new path, as Samsung did with their Galaxy Note back in 2011. Huawei presents the device as the largest smartphone in the world. The device is coming with a title "highest screen-to-body ratio device" in the industry. The screen occupies 73% of the device that maximizes your viewing experience.

The Ascend Mate comes with ‘Magic Touch’ support, that offers extra high sensitive display, and lets the users to operate it even with gloves on. Another special feature  is the Huawei’s Quick Power Control and Automated Discontinuous Reception technologies, for fastest battery charging capability and saves over 30% of battery charging time and provides two days of “ordinary usage” on a single charge.

Now comes the core features of the device, the 6.1" device offers 720×1280 HD IPS+ touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass protection on top. Under the hood, there will be a 1.5GHz processor and 2GB of RAM. There will be a microSD card slot for storage expansion. The back side is equipped with 8 MP rear camera with HDR, and there will also be a 1.3 MP camera on the front for video chat.

It runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean topped with Huawei's Emotion UI. The device also comes with pop-up apps for improved multi-tasking and a one-hand UI, and of-course, a bigger battery, 4050 mAh. There won't be any 4G LTE support, but it support pentaband HSPA, dual-antenna design for a 20-30% increase in network coverage.

Huawei Ascend Mate is hitting the shelves in China, in February. No words on pricing now.
