HTC added a new device to their Android smartphone line-up in the form of HTC Desire U. The new device follows HTC's regular design strategy and comes as a budget priced smartphone.

HTC Desire U is not a high end smartphone, rather it offers yesterday's features for the customers and is expected to land with a reasonable price tag.

It offers a 4.0-inch, 800 x 480 resolution display and is powered by 1GHz processor with 512MB of RAM. The storage is offered by a 4 GB of internal flash memory and there is also a microSD card slot for storage expansion. The 5 MP with WVGA video recording is equipped on the rear side of the device. Of course the device will be landing with Beats Audio. It runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and houses a 1,650mAh battery.

For the time being the Desire U is announced for Taiwan only, where it will be available as unlocked or with contracts from Chunghwa Telecom, and the price tag, NT$7,990, around $274 or €203 seems to be reasonable. No idea whether they are planning for global release.
