From the Kickstarter to CES, the journey of the 'Pebble Watch' is quite interesting. Pebble watch, basically an E-paper watch that 'wirelessly' connects with your smartphone, was up for funding at Kickstarter website, in a dream of not more than a few thousand orders. But this tiny piece of gadget impressed many people, and the growth of funding exceeded all the expectations of the designers. When the Kickstarter campaign officially ended on May 18, the project raised $10,266,845 from 68,929 backers and also sold out all of its “backing tiers,” too.

Now the man behind the watch, Eric Migicovsky, announced at CES to those thousands of Kickstarter backers that the wait is over, the watch will start shipping by 23rd of January, and all the pre-orders are supposed to be filled by the end of February to move on to new set of orders.

Let's check what make the people to run behind this cool watch. This fancy watch is a completely customizable, works fine with your smartphone, and  can also exist on its own.

It features Sharp’s 1.26-inch Memory LCD, with 144×168 pixels and thanks to its reflective display with a PNLC (Polymer Networked Liquid Crystal) module for improved brightness, and HR-TFT (high-reflective thin film transistor) technology for better contrast. This special screen design consumes very little power and lithium ion polymer battery  keep the screen going well for seven days with a single charge. The display also offer better readability in direct sunlight

The software side is also pretty impressive, it can connect with your smartphone via Bluetooth 4.0, and the happy news is that the watch is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. The users can customize their own watch face and can download your own personal apps like sports and fitness apps and easily keep  track on their health.

Pebble also offers a range of built-in notification features for calls, text messages, e-mails, tweets, and weather. The watch will vibrate and let the user alerted when a text message is received on the phone, and if your hands are too busy to take your phone from the pocket,  no need to worry, the watch will display the message on its e-paper display and you can also see who is calling by just looking at your wrist. The watch will also let the users to control  music apps on their phone like Pandora and Spotify from their watch itself.

What makes the device more special is that the Pebble allows a third-party app developers to create compatible apps and if you are a developer you can create your own apps that integrate the Pebble with iOS or Android devices via Bluetooth. The popular running and fitness app, RunKeeper is one of their first official partner and you can track your distance traveled and time as well.

Pebble means so many features in just a single device, the watch comes with a simple, yet elegant design that fits almost all the wrist types.

This smaller and lighter  watch is designed to be used in most wet weather conditions, and you can use the watch even when you are taking a bath and the designers says that the watch even can be submerged underwater. It also comes with an ambient light sensor and a compass.

Pebble is coming in three attractive colors -- Arctic White, Jet Black and Cherry Red. The watch features a simple interface that can be accessed from the four buttons on the side and it also houses a MagSafe-style magnetic charging port too.

The designers says that all software updates will be released over the air wirelessly. No need to spend huge on this extremely useful watch, it just costs just $150, and this fancy square watch is available for pre-order at Pebble's official website.
