Chip makers Intel have already shown their interest in smartphone space as they have already introduced their first smartphone Xolo X900 with ‘Medfield’ Atom Z2460 processor, clocked at 1.6 GHz back in April last year. They are coming up again with a budget smartphone, and this time the semiconductor giant targets Africa as their destination.
Paired with mobile operator Safaricom, Intel introduced their first budget friendly smartphone for Africa, and it will go on sale in Kenya for 10,999 Kenyan shillings, around $126. The company says that this droid device is designed for "cost-conscious and first-time buyers in Kenya,"
Yolo is powered by a 1.2GHz Intel Atom Z2420 processor and sports a 3.5-inch touch screen, and the specifications are not as an entry level device as Intel claims. The device offers a 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion, 5-megapixel camera with full HD video capture support, 400MHz GPU, FM radio and HSPA+ support too.
It measures 110.5x61x12.6mm and has a weight of 132 grams.
