Pelican 16-lens camera on its way to Nokia Lumia phones?

Nokia have always thrown some better camera techniques in their smartphones, and is always a prestigious name when it comes to camera phones. Now the Finns are investing in Pelican Imaging for extreme camera performance, and as a result we can expect a smartphone with 16-element lens camera with Pelican imaging in next year, says reports.

Pelican-Imaging

The Pelican camera that features 16 individual lenses that snaps and captures depth information at every pixel when shutter is pressed. This interesting photographic technology allows the photographers to change the focus point of the image even after the shot is captured, and also "change backgrounds, scale any part of the picture, or combine elements from multiple photos into interesting new images," according to the makers.

Pelican's company's CEO, Chris Pickett points that they are bringing the techniques in smartphone cameras next year, and the manufacturers are testing it, but he didn't point out which manufacturers.

Anyway Nokia's recent investment on Pelican imaging makes us to think that one of the makers will be definitely Nokia. So are you interested to see Pelican tech in Nokia?
