Rumors and speculations on the fifth generation iPad is circulating for a while now, and it is already rumored to make a possible April debut. But contradicting this, the latest reports from Digitimes notes that Apple's fifth generation iPad will start its production only in August this year.
Digitimes says that
"Volume production of the fifth-generation 9.7-inch iPad will kick off in July-August 2013, according to sources with Taiwan-based supply chain makers. Yield rates for key components, especially touch panels, will be a major concern for smooth production."
The source also noted that the upcoming iteration of iPad is also thinner and lighter than the previous one, and also have some design elements inspired from iPad Mini. The fifth generation iPad is rumored to offer a slim bezel design, like in the iPad mini.
According to Digitimes sources, the display for the fifth generation iPad will be from LG Display and Sharp, while the touch panels are expected to be supplied by TPK.
Mean while the folks at Nowhereelse.fr have some hands on photos of the front panel of the upcoming iPad in their site(shown below), and from the picture it is clear that the alleged front panel shown in the photo is noticeably narrower than the current iPad.

So if the reports from Digitimes are to be believed, there is plenty of time for the current iPad to remain at the top from Cuppertino, and in the mean time we can expect more interesting rumors on the upcoming iPad.
