Along with the new Facebook Home (a Facebook centric home screen), the stage for the Facebook press event held at Menlo Park, Calif., is also became the venue for the announcement of a new smartphone by Facebook and HTC . After a long rumors and leaks the Facebook phone became finally became real, and it's called HTC First. This new phone looks similar to the leaked renders.

Earlier it was reported to be landing with a new forked Android app like Amazon did for their Kindle Fire, or will carry an OS developed for its own. But neither happened, and HTC First is just the first phone to be landing with the new “Facebook Home program” in which a Facebook centric home will replace your existing home screen and lock screen and also offers some revamped messaging apps.
HTC First is set to launch in US first bounded with telecom operator AT&T. Like the 'Home, ' HTC First will also go on sale starting from April 12, for a price tag of $99.99 with usual two-year contract on AT&T. You can also place the pre-orders for the device now.

In terms of specifications, it does no't have any cutting edge technology, rather it offers a 4.3-inch display with 280x720 pixels resolution, 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon MSM8930AA processor, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash and a 1.6-megapixel front-facing camera. It offers both NFC and Bluetooth support and packs 1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, and a 2,000mAh embedded battery that offers talk time of up to 14.3 hours and up to 18.2 days of standby time.
HTC First is landing in Europe too. Orange and EE are offering the device there, but the exact price and launch date is not available now.
