MWC 2010 : MicroSoft Announced Windows Mobile 7 Officially

As we expected Steve Ballmer, the Chief Executive Officer of MicroSoft, announced the company's next generation mobile OS Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Series, at Microsoft's conference at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

He explained that this new OS will be a new beginning, a new iteration and a new approach and design to the mobile phone software. He says “a fresh approach to phone software, distinguished by smart design and truly integrated experiences that bring to the surface the content people care about from the Web and applications”. Windows mobile 7 integrates Xbox LIVE games, Zune music and videos into a mobile and the company claims that “every Windows Phone 7 Series device will be a Zune.”

The OS features a real-time update for devices, and can dynamically updated live titles on the Start screen. The Windows 7 devices will be coming with a dedicated Bing hardware button which offers access to Microsoft’s search engine with just one click.

The most interesting feature provided by Windows Mobile 7 is the Windows Phone six phone hubs specifically built for reflecting the activities, and the themes represent all phases of life. These are People, Pictures, Games, Music + Video, Office and Marketplace.

There won't be any Adobe Flash support in the beginning, and the first smartphone with Windows 7 will be hitting the market in 2010 holiday season.

A number of phone manufactures and carriers already adopted Windows 7. The company announced a list which includes Samsung, HTC, Dell, Sony Ericsson, HP, Gramin-Asus, Toshiba, AT7T, Qualcomm, Orange, Deutsche Telekom (including T-Mobile USA), Sprint, Telestra, Telefonica, Telefonica, Vodafone and Verizon.
