Acer at MWC introduced two new devices, named Liquid E1 and Liquid Z1 and in fact the Liquid E1, a 4.5" device with Android Jelly Bean on the board was introduced by the company one month before it got announced at MWC and the Liquid Z1 is the only new offering from Acer at MWC. All their smartphone offerings still ranges up to a dual core processing power and none of them features a quad core processor, even though there are a couple of tablets from the company that runs on quad core. So the Taiwanese makers are very much in need of a quad core smartphone. The latest reports points that Acer is working on a new quad core device and it will be a phablet.

ST Liew, Smartphone Business Group President at Acer, hinted the details of a phablet in an interview for the official MWC paper,
"Unlimited exploration: the line between tablet and phone is blurring, a new breed of smartphone, the Phablet, is an irreversible trend to create new lifestyles. With above 4.7″ and quad-core+ processors, those giants offer extremely high resolution for multi-tasking, gaming, browsing and more. Acer will launch its Liquid S series as part of this growing segment."
The device will be called as Liquid S and will be the first phablet from the company. Details on the device is still a mystery so let's wait and see what will be Acer’s definition of a phablet.
