Asus Fonepad Is Available For Pre-Order In Taiwan For $302

Asus introduced their first Intel powered tablet- Fonepad back in MWC last month. The Fonepad with a 7" screen and built-in phone functionality will go on sale by the end of March, and Asus have now started taking the pre-orders for the device in Taiwan. The company is offering the 16GB model of the tablet for NT $8,900 which is around $302. In Taiwan Asus joins with Chunghwa Telecom to offer the FonePad on contract, the customers have to sign a special two-year contract with Chunghwa Telecom to get the device with out any additional cost,but have to pay NT $1,343 ($45.07) per month.

Chunghwa Telecom is not the only source to get a Fonepad in Taiwan because Asus have also tied up with many other retailer stores and sales channels, including Tsann Kuen Enterprise Co, E-Life Mall Corp, Sunfair Computer Co retail stores as well as Yahoo & PChome online stores to sell the device.

To refresh your memory on Fonepad, it's a 7-inch tablet with 1280x800p resolution display, Intel Atom Z2420 processor, 1GB RAM, 8/16 GB internal memory, 3MP rear camera, and 1.2MP front camera, MicroSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS and 4270 mAh battery. The tablet runs on Android 4.1 and features on-board voice-calling support. During the announcement of the tablet at MWC, the 16GB version of the device was priced at 219 euros (US$285) for the European market.
