Asus Rumored To Launch Intel Clover Trail+ Powered Smartphone In June

Just recently Intel and Asus had teamed up for a budget friendly FonePad, a 7" Intel Atom Z2420 processor based Android tablet that offers built-in phone functionality along with  1GB RAM, 3MP rear camera, 1.2MP front camera, 8/16GB of internal storage, and microSD card slot and runs on Android 4.1. The combo is back again, and this time the semiconductor giant joins Asus for a smartphone.

From the reports at Digitimes, the smartphone will be powered by a dual-core Atom Z2580 Clover Trail+ processor. Asus expects to target mainstream market by this phone. Digitimes supply chain sources expects a possible launch in June, but still there is a chance for some delays.

The details on the upcoming smartphone is just few, and it may be taking some characteristics from recently announced Lenovo K900.  The device is supposed to offer display ranges from 5 to 5.5-inch, so it lands to join in the phablet range. Other features of the device are unknown right now. The OS is expected to be Android Jelly Bean, but the launch date is given as June, there is also a chance that the device to get Android Key Lime Pie. Apart from that not much else is known about the device. How the design will be or what other spec it packs is yet to be seen.

However as Asus focuses on developed markets, Intel and Asus plans for the best from their box, as those markets have already reached a saturation point.
