The rumors around also says that it will be run on a TI processor and will be having a screen resolution of 1,280×800.
Are they halving the price of the existing 7-inch $199 Kindle Fire HD? They can reduce the price because the components prices are dropping everyday. Also considering the fact that Amazon is not much interested in making profits from the hardware sales, as stated by Jeff Bezos earlier, we can expect a price drop of the existing HD tablet. Through the hardware sale they expect to leverage and harden their dominant position in online retail market.
Currently Google Nexus 7 sells at the same price as Kindle fire HD. Dropping the prices will give hard times to other tablet makers as well. Currently there are no branded tablets available below $100 or is it $150. If Amazon reduces the price of the existing Kindle fire HD by half or even if they create an HD device with slightly lower specs, then also the company will dominate the future tablet market.
