Huawei Ascend P2 To Have Only 4.7" 720p Screen

Last month Huawei's Ascend P2 appeared in a press shot like image, and among the rumored features, the display was said to be a 5" Full HD one. But when it made its leak again there was a confusion in display size and resolution. Now the conflict is over, and Richard Yu, Huawei mobile head confirms that the device won't have a 5" 1080p Full HD display rather it will be landing with a 4.7 inch screen with 720p resolution.

The reason for the display degradation, according to Richard Yu, a 1080p Full HD resolution on a display smaller than 5" is not necessary, as the human eye can't differentiate between a 720p panel and a 1080p screen on smaller than 5" display glass. More than that a higher-resolution screen would eat up more power, thus to battery life.

Apparently the Ascend P2 will be landing as a 4.7" 720p device. Huawei sacrifices the display resolution, to pack the Ascend P2 within a record breaking thickness, and they attained their goal and the phone measures under 6.45mm in size. It also lands with dust and water proof certification. A smaller 720p screen means an extended battery life and a thinner device, according to Richard Yu. Let's check more details on this on the upcoming MWC next week.
