ZTE Open Introduced As The First Firefox OS Smartphone

ZTE's Grand Memo gained a lot of attention at MWC with its huge display, but that is not the only device from the Chine makers to steal the show,  rather they have got one more interesting device to showcase, and it is ZTE Open, with which the company planning to open a new era.

ZTE Open is an entry level smartphone designed for some emerging markets, and you may be thinking that what makes it so special? The answer is that the device is not at all running on Android, iOS, BB OS, or even Tizen (the major game players in the OS space) but it is landing as the first smartphone to feature a new OS, Firefox. Firefox is an open source html5-based operating system, and the software is essentially a web browser with all the apps entirely depends on web.

Now comes to the ZTE Open - it features a 3.5-inch screen with HVGA display with the power of a 1GHz Cortex A5 processor, 256MB of RAM, 512MB of internal storage on the board. For your photo maniac minds, there is a 3.2 MP camera on the rear side. The device won't skip any regular connectivity option and offers Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and A-GPS capabilities. ZTE packs a 1,200mAh battery inside the Open. It measures 114 x 62 x 12.5mm. Following ZTE, Huawei, LG and Sony have expressed their interest on a Firefox device.
