
We all know that Nokia's Asha series did its role pretty well in the market, and it still continues as a best seller in the low-to mid range smartphone space. Now it looks like the Samsung wants to take on Nokia’s Asha series, introducing a new range of feature phones, dubbed as REX. Under the name REX, Samsung launched four new smartphone, Samsung Rex 90, Samsung Rex 80, Samsung Rex 70, and Samsung Rex 60, and all the devices have touch screens. They all lands with dual-SIM support and an array of features to satisfy those looking for a quality mid-ranger phone.
Starting with the bottom end, Samsung Rex 60 is the cheapest among the series, it offers 2.8-inch QVGA resolution resistive touchscreen, 30MB memory with microSD card slot, 1.3 megapixel camera,1,000mAh battery etc. Rex 60 also offers access to Twitter, Facebook, Gtalk, ChatOn, Yahoo, Opera Mini browser, and also games and music app from Samsung App sore.
The REX 70 has a 3.0-inch inch, QVGA resolution display, 2 megapixel camera, 10MB memory with microSD card slot, dual-SIM support and 1,000mAh battery. Other features are similar to REX 60.
The REX 70 is a bit higher than the REX 60, with a 3.0-inch, QVGA resolution display, 10MB memory with microSD card slot, 2 megapixel camera, and the 1,000mAh battery, rest of the features are almost similar to REX 60. While the REX 80 differ from REX 70 with a 3 megapixel camera, 20MB memory with microSD card slot, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n only.
Now comes the REX 90, top-of-the-line with a 3.5-inch, HVGA display, 10MB memory with microSD card slot, dual-SIM support, 3.2 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and 1,000mAh battery.
The devices ranges from 4,280 INR (about $80) for the REX 60 to 6,490 INR (about $120) for the REX 90. All the devices are currently available in India only, no details on the release of the device in other part of the world.
